Origins (2002)
The origins of the City of Stirling Top Fifteen Bowling Competition date back to 2002, when the Stirling Sports Council ceased organising the long-standing District Nine Top Fifteen tournament. In response, Peter M. Black stepped forward to preserve the tradition, rallying support from local clubs. With help from A. Deans, he sent letters to every club in District Nine, ultimately securing participation from eight clubs for the inaugural event.
Each club contributed a £10 entry fee, while the late Mr. Willie Jenkins generously donated £40, ensuring all funds were returned as prize money to the winners and runners-up. The first final was held at Polmaise Bowling Club, where Polmaise emerged victorious over Causewayhead Bowling Club.
Formation of the Committee and Constitution
To formalise the competition, Peter Black and A. Deans invited Neil Nairn and Alan Davidson of Dunblane Bowling Club to join the committee. Together, they drafted the group's first rules and constitution. A tradition was established to rotate the hosting of the final between participating clubs. Once a club hosted the final, they would move to the bottom of the list for future hosting opportunities.
Constitution
- The name shall be City of Stirling Top Fifteen Group

Sponsorship and Growth
The first major sponsor was Co-operative Funeralcare, brought on board thanks to Mr. Pat Martin of Causewayhead. With additional funds from sponsorship and entry fees, prize money grew to £200 for the winners and £100 for the runners-up.
In 2003, 15 clubs entered the competition. A new trophy bearing the City of Stirling Top Fifteen crest was commissioned, funded by selling "spot the team" cards. Polmaise, as the first winners, were the first name engraved.
Memorable Finals and Expanding Legacy
At Dunblane: Dunblane B.C. defeated Polmaise.
At Cambusbarron: Causewayhead B.C. edged out Polmaise.

At Polmaise: Polmaise regained the title against Cambusbarron B.C.
Borestone defeated Stirling to win their first title in a rain-delayed final.

Recent Years and Continued Growth
Due to COVID-19, no competition was held this year.
Final was held at Doune Castle Green between Polmaise and Bannockburn. With the number of clubs dropping down to 12, the secretary asked each club to sell a "spot the team" card to raise money to cover the drop in entrance fees, helping to keep the prize money at Winners £300, Runners-up £150 and beaten semi-finalists £75 each. This was Bannockburn's first time in the final, with Polmaise coming out on top. At the presentation, the sponsors were presented with a pendant for their continued sponsorship.
Final was held at Causewayhead Green between Doune Castle and Borestone, with Doune Castle proving too strong on the day. As normal, the draw was made for the 2023 season.
Final was held at Bridge of Allan Green between Cambusbarron and Polmaise, with Cambusbarron winning their first City of Stirling Top Fifteen title.
The final was held at Riverside between Polmaise and Cambusbarron. Once again Cambusbarron came out on top to collect their second title in a row.
Spittalmyre asked if they could hold the final as it was their anniversary year. Borestone, whose turn it was to hold the final, graciously agreed to allow Spittalmyre to host it, with Borestone taking the 2026 final instead.
Committee Transitions
2011 saw Tommy Hood of Stirling B.C. join the committee as A. Deans stepped down. In 2019, the group mourned the passing of long-serving committee member Alan Davidson, who had been instrumental since 2003. James Dawson stepped into the committee after the passing of Alan Davidson.
